Background:

By the beginning of this century, AEG was already engaged in the construction of electrically driven vehicles. Some were big mainline railway locomotives, whose rod drives remind one of steam locomotives. However, large number of small - and at the time quite modem - electric locomo~ tives were built for industrial, local and narrow gauge railways. This LGB model, with its photogenic red livery, corresponds to an AEG locomotive type that, because of its solid construction and easy-to-maintain electrical elements, is still in use in spite of its age. For exa!T~ple, it can be seen on the Mixnitz - St. Erhard local railway in the Styrian region of Austria.

The loco together with its original box foam carrier are in new condition.

The Prototype:

Narrow gauge steam engines were the main product of the L. Corpet Locomotive Works in Paris. After the death of Lucien Corpet, his wife continued running the firm with the help of Monsieur Louvet, the name of the firm became Corpet-Louvet et Compagnie Although the firm still exists, it stopped building steam locomotive in 1952. Until that time it had manufactured 1880 locomotives, most of them narrow gauge.

This LGB model is a reproduction of the firms famous Type 030T meter-gauge locomotive. 826 of these beautiful locomotives were built, and they were used thought out France and in may other European countries. Indeed, the 030 T is considered to be a classic example of narrow gauge steam locomotive.

The Model Features:

Drive Mechanism: This model is powered by a sevenpole Buhler molor. All wheels are powered. Replacement motor': Replacement motors (62201) are available. Methods of operation: This locomotive can be powered through the track or by a catenary system. Selection of the power source is made using a three-way switch: Position 0 = All power off Position 1 = Catenary (overhead) operation with lights Position 2 = Standard (track) operation with lights (The locomotive is delivered with the switch in this position). Cleaning: Dirty locomotives can be cleaned using detergent and water. Lubrication: The axles should be occasionally lubricated with a drop of LGB Maintenance Oil (51021).

Replacing the power pick-up shoes: To replace the power pick-up shoes, remove the bottom of the gearbox. Replacing the wheel sets and commutator brushes: After removal of the gearbox bottom, the wheel sets and commutator brushes can also be replaced. Lighting:

Two headlights are mounted at each end of the locomotive. Replacing the light bulbs: Carefully pull the light cover off. Then replace the light bulb. weight: 1450 grams Lenght over buffers: 245mm
