The Prototype
Class OBB 2095.11
Wheel arrangement B'B'
You just can't miss it, the Pinzgauer local railway
or Krimmler Bahn, as it's often called. When you
get out of the express at Zell am See walk over to
the station buildings, you stumble over it, in the
truest sense of the word. You have to climb onto
the narrow platforms, which are on a level with the
rails. The first one being that used by the local
railway. Here the train is waiting for the journey to
the terminus 52.7 kilometres away, the 912
metres high Krimml with its waterfalls.
You will be amazed by the elegant carriages. The
locomotive and its carriages seem to be
imitations in modern times of the standard gauge,
but everything has been sharply reduced in scale
- cut down to match the 760 mm gauge. At a
second glance, everything seems more romantic
again. Which one of the big bogie diesel
locomotive sisters has rod drive? The maker's
nameplate gives the year of manufacture as
1964.
